In the list of LG Smartphones, announced its phone LG V30S ThinQ and LG V30S+. Apart from its elder versions LG V30 and V30+, LG V30S ThinQ and LG V30S+ is similar to them in its Body (dimensions, screen size, build, weight and sim); Display (type, size, resolution, protection etc.); Platform (OS, chipset, CPU and GPU) but for an Camera Lover this phone will bring an feature called AI Cam and Bright Shot. At first, let’s discuss the specifications of this phone and then I will proceed further to its new feature – AI Cam and Bright Shot.
SPECIFICATIONS
The new LG V30S ThinQ comes with its huge screen of 6 inch at the dimension of 5.97 inch in height, 2.97 inch in length and 0.29 inch in its depth with weight of 158 grams. It fits in hands easily, but as my personal opinion I would prefer to have a phone which is smaller in size, but compact with high performance components (includes RAM, Chipset, GPU and Memory) which makes phone fast. Anyways, let’s go more deep into this new LG V30S ThinQ, in respect of screen, it has P-OLED (Plastic-Organic Light-Emitting Diode) capacity touchscreen with 16 Million Colors, this phone Build quality is nice with front and Back glass which is Gorilla Glass 5, but what bother me is that its back glass in spite, it has Gorilla Glass 5, might be slippery while holding the phone with wet or sweaty hands else it has aluminium frame on sides for more protection, but can’t say whether this phone can face direct dropping or same kind of incidents? LG V30S ThinQ comes with hybrid SIM slot where we can use single SIM (nano) or hybrid SIM with dual stand-by.
The LG V30S ThinQ has come with 6 GB of LPDDR4X RAM (up from 4 GB as their preceder have) as well as 128 GB and 256 GB for V30S+, of UFS 2.1 flash storage (up from 64 and 128 GB on the V30). If you want you can also expand memory through its Hybrid SIM Slot up to 256 GB with single SIM stand-by.
If I talk about Platform on which this phone performs, it has Qualcomm MSM8998, Snapdragon 835 based SoC (System on Chip) as its preceder V30 and V30+ have as well as CPU (Octa-core (4×2.45 GHz Kryo & 4×1.9 GHz Kryo)) and GPU (Adreno 540) is also same as its preceders. This Phone performs on Android 7.1.2 (Nougat) Operating System which is again same as compared to its previous V30 series.
If we talk about Camera, it would be loved by all photogenic users. This phone has dual camera at back of 16 MP (f/1.6, 1 µm, 3-axis OIS, Phase Detection Autofocus (PDAF)) and 13 MP (f/1.9, no AutoFocus (AF)) for wide angle with phase detection & laser autofocus, LED flash, while talking about front camera it is 5 MP (f/2.2, 1/5″, 1.12 µm).
NEW FEATURES OF LG V30S ThinQ/LG V30S+
In LG V30S ThinQ and LG V30S+ comes with P-OLED capacitive touchscreen and able to produce/show 16 Million Colors. If we talk about P-OLED screen then that screen build with plastic not the glass as OLED screens have. That also means that the build cost is less than OLED and screen protection will be increase.
The new LG V30S and V30S+ has finger sensor in the back of phone which also work as power/reboot button. Volume rocker keys you will find on the left side of the phone. The interesting thing is you don’t have press power button to lock screen, just tap twice on the home screen and this phone will go on stand-by mode.
With respect to camera LG V30S and V30S+ gives features like AI Cam and Bright Shot. Persons who are Photographer or use manual photography will find many options in the camera setting for clicking their perfect pictures. The New feature here AI Cam which recognizes objects in the frame before you press shutter for photos and recommends appropriate shooting modes for it. Currently there are eight of them right now which is used by today and these modes are portrait, food, pet, landscape, city, flower, sunrise, and sunset.
The QLens that analyzes the frame and enables to perform a visual search, or a visual shopping search. There’s a simple toggle inside the main camera app, and once activated, the phone tries to find out what it’s looking at. During this, descriptive words appear and disappear on screen which looks like popping bubbles, as a neat little signpost of what the AI thinks it’s looking at.
Bright Mode for photos that measures ambient light and then uses an algorithm to “brighten images by a factor of two for better looking photos without the noise”.
The Voice AI (called QVoice in some of LG’s marketing documents) enables users to run apps and change settings using voice alone. Obviously, this will require support from Google and app developers because of security concerns, but enhanced voice controls could be an interesting feature.
